Phase 2 Alpha Groups revealed...

Hooray, everyone made it safely back from Phase 1 and, for a mad 36 hours from Monday evening to Wednesday morning, all volunteer staff and participants left their campsites around Sabah and met up again to find out about Phase 2 projects, get to know their new Alpha groups, wash all their grubby kit, pick up fresh supplies, play games, eat donuts and generally catch up.

The Raleigh Malaysia Spring 2008 expedition blog can now exclusively reveal who will be where for the next three weeks:

Dear Freddie(Jago)
Really enjoying the updates on the blog - just wish there were more photos of smaller groups so we could actually see you.
So good to hear from you on Sunday, although I hate to think how much it cost, and great to hear that you were having such an amazing time in Imbak Canyon.
So now you are on the diving phase which sounds brilliant.I'm sure you will see wonderful things and totally different to diving in
England and France.
Missing you
Tons of love Mum and Dad

Jon Peters (Alpha 2) - younger twin
greetings from Blighty! I am just about to have a lovely hot bubble bath with an ice cold beer or two and then get into a nice comfy bed with no mosquitoes or snakes. Sorry! I am sure jungle life is great fun, trenchfoot permitting! And as Alpha 2 has a Jonathan Morris, I am sure he keeps you entertained with his animal noises (you are probably too young to remember Johnny Morris?). It all sounds like a great adventure and extremely worthwhile, so keep up the good work! Isabelle and Sophie send you big Auntie Joan kisses and the grown ups will toast you this evening! Take care of yourself. Lots of love Big Sis Lisle xxx PS I am going skiing with Little Sis again next month - there's life in the old dogs yet!

Hi to Ed Dick who was listed in Alpha 6 but now I can't see you listed at all. Hope the snakes haven't had you for a meal!
All well here, with spring just around the corner and everything starting to look good again.
Jonathan has found the job for him..he's actually being paid (well) to spend 8 hours a day hanging off cliffs faces within a team of five, to clear the cliffs up and render them safe for the summer bathing season!!
Graziella is about to go to Milan for a lung op. but she's keeping well meanwhile.
Be in touch later, hugs from us all in sunny Sicily

Sounds like rain is your worst enemy. The idea of foot rot / trench foot fills us all with horror! Everyone promises to write and we are so happy to get your letters. Very proud that you are living up to your name - "Sabar adalah separuh daripada Iman". I bet you never thought you would miss teh tarik and roti canai this much! Mudah-mudahan, masa akan berlalu dengan cepat. Bertabah sayang! We all (inc all your aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents!) miss you more than this blog site can say!

Dear Putt! Putt!
(Imbak Canyon- Alpha 3),
It was pure joy hearing your voice the other day . Your excitement was infectious and made mine and moms day.We are also excited to hear of your extended stay and know well enough that your prayers have been listened to... of course with a lot of help from Jim and Larissa.
Its a pity you did not receive at least four if not more of the letters we wrote you.Nevertheless we shall continue sending you letters and don't be surprised to get all the mail together in one go.
Simon is better though very weak. Pray for him .

It was Bhai's birthday yesterday. You may wish to give him belated wishes when you can do so.

We are forever visiting the blog for the latest news and are extremely grateful to Anna and others for keeping us updated. Its a good blog Anna and makes for interesting reading . Keep up the good work.

Best of wishes to all you Raleigh- ians and to all your new friends in Alpha 3 down in Imbak Canyon. Ariana we love you. Your presence is being misseed by all.

Hello Natalie (Field Base)

I'm glad you're feeling better today, talking to you has put my mind at ease. I'm sorry we're so far away feeling helpless.

Hope you can get back to us on Sunday, health and flight dependent, can't wait to see you.

We spotted you on the photo, front row and red shorts, dead give-away!
Looks and sounds amazing.

Izzy has had his bandage removed and is now sporting a fetching lampshade around his neck, poor thing. Afraid of falling over, he is running everywhere on 3 legs, fast!!

Take care Nat, we all send our love and everyone is thinking of you.

Mum xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

THANK YOU RALEIGH FOR LOOKING AFTER NATALIE AND KEEPING US INFORMED.

Hi Alice (Alpha 1) & all other Six Nations fans.

Quick up date on the latest results: Scotland beat England 15-9 (not even Jonny could save the day this time in a miserable mud bath at Murrayfield); Wales still on the march after 16-12 victory against Ireland in Dublin (yet another sublime try by Shane Williams); France still in with a shout after entertaining 25-13 victory over Italy in Paris (three tries to one). Their last game against (an unbeaten) Wales on 15th will decide it but they need to win by at least 20 points so tall order (even if they are better looking!)
Hope the kindergarten construction going well. Maybe you can teach an old dog some new DIY tricks on your return. Assume camp rations have improved since the trek. Learn any new porridge recipes?
Look forward to hearing all about it.
Another letter on its way.
Lots of love from M&D. XXXXXXXXXX

For Sophie de Valk

Hi dearest Sophie,

Oke genoeg engels.

Just saying hello! Have seen the pictures on here - looks like uv been building lol, hope ur having fun!

Also someone sent me an email today for Alice Small (I think) and it said it was from Marion. Clearly this wasn't for me lol- maybe it was meant for the girl out there called Alice that you say looks like me?! If so perhaps you let her know her mum emailed her? haha.
Not too much new here - I saw Kate Nash on Sunday night which was brill, but sweaty. They took everyone's bottles of water on the way in (which I was distraught about as mine was cold from fridge lol) so it was boiling. Some people fainted - there was an ambulance outside when we left! It made me think of when we're going to Sugababes, I can't wait!!

Hope all is gd wiv u!
